Mellow Vinyasa Yoga
A lil more 'mellow' - cos it's Saturday morning...
Vinyasa Yoga (aka Flow Yoga or Power Yoga); can be fast-paced or more mellow; emphasis is on fitness & strength but also very much on the breath. Each movement is synchronised with the breath. Most Vinyasa classes will feature Sun Salutations. Vinyasa classes link or connect asanas (poses) together to make a sequence.
Tuesday Morning Wake-Up Hatha
Early morning class in the GAA on Tuesdays at 7:15am. Hatha Yoga is like the roots of the tree from which grows all modern physical Yoga. On a class level, Hatha Yoga typically means a general and/or more all-levels class, with or without 'flow' aspect. It's a great starting point for developing & maintaining a Yoga practice. Hatha is more accessible & 'low-key' & yet still provides all those key flexibility, calming & strengthening benefits.
Vinyasa Yoga Group Class
Vinyasa Yoga (aka Flow Yoga); can be fast-paced or more mellow; emphasis is on fitness & strength but also very much on the breath. Each movement is synchronised with the breath. Most Vinyasa classes will feature Sun Salutations. Vinyasa classes link or connect asanas (poses) together to make a sequence. These can change from week to week, class to class, teacher to teacher; the variety's one of the many enjoyable aspects of flow classes. Take the class at your own pace & enjoy.
Beginners Yoga
Whether you are new to Yoga or have a couple dozen classes under your belt, this is the best place for you to start Yoga with us. The two different Beginners Yoga classes will give you a strong foundation to your practice & they focus on relaxation & fun too. Yoga is unique in its long-term ability to help strengthen & tone our bodies, improve our flexibility & enhance our sense of well being. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a lifelong practice for you.
Gentle Yoga
A Hatha Yoga-based class; very gentle in its approach & slower-paced than some other forms of Yoga. A class perfect for those looking for a more relaxed & easy-going practice; also suitable for those recovering from and/or managing chronic illness & injuries.
Gentle Yoga, because of its innate gentle nature, is perfect for those who cannot or very simply, do not want to meet the demands of a more physically active class.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga - or, just Yoga! Hatha is really ALL Yoga in a sense; as in the physical asanas part of Yoga. It is like the roots of the Tree from which grows all modern physical Yoga. On a class level, Hatha Yoga will typically mean a general and/or gentle class, most often without 'flow' aspect. Hatha Yoga classes are a great starting point for developing a Yoga practice. Hatha is more accessible & 'low-key' & yet still provides all those key flexibility, strengthening & de-stressing benefits.
Yoga for All
A relaxing but effective all-levels type of Yoga; this will usually be Hatha Yoga based (i.e. not a 'Flow' class). Poses taught can be modified for levels, abilities & ages. Accessible classic Yoga asana (poses) are practiced with an emphasis on alignment & ease. It’s the perfect class for those new to Yoga, those getting back into their practice & those who desire a more reflective & mindful kind of Yoga.
Karma Yoga
The Yoga of 'Action". A great class for everyone - from beginners to those wanting some flexibility, fitness & fun & for all those who seek community, connection & doing a good deed via Yoga. All welcome. Current cause, for 2018, is the Irish Cancer Society. The Outdoor Summer Classes are finished for now but stay tuned for an Autumn event...
Yoga Nidra
Also known as Yogic Sleep, a Yoga Nidra class is pure but aware relaxation. It works on the subtle body. There is no movement. It incorporates a systematic method that induces physical, mental & emotional relaxation. It is said to ease those with stress, anxiety, PTSD, chronic back pain & much more. Typically, a class will be taught with a variety of techniques, including breath work, guided imagery & body scanning, all to aid relaxation. Try it & enjoy the benefits of 'conscious sleep'.
